First day in Uganda–Entebbe to Kampala to Lira
After 16 hours of flying, we landed in Entebbe, Uganda at 11:30 P.M. We packed the bus with all of our luggage and headed to our hotel for the night. Our hotel was really nice–clean bedrooms/bathrooms, a pool, and a delicious breakfast. We were definitely spoiled for our first night.
The next day we drove to Kampala to exchange currency and buy cell phones for our group. Then we drove 7 hours to get to Lira in northern Uganda.
For lunch, we stopped for ‘fast food.’ When parking the bus on the side of the road, all the vendors rushed to sell us their food. My favorite of the things we tried were chipoti (like a tortilla) and maize.
When we arrived in Lira around 8 P.M., we went out to dinner for Tilapia. After, we went to the school and settled into the dorms.

After searching around for a good Uganda post, I’m glad I found this blog. I run a travel site, and we’re busy trying to identify the best blog post for each destination. I love the photos of Ugandan street scenes. There are no prizes (other than glory), but we’ve linked to this post from our Uganda flights page. It looks like it was a wonderful adventure. Rohit.
I’m glad you like my blog and pictures!
